How you have contributed to the team in the past weeks to help prepare and complete the project?

I helped with the initial set up of wix to enable collaboration of the website. I have also contributed in my assigned portions of the website: the airline’s history and fleet, the CAA and airlines at both airport, tabulating the PAR, creating the gantt chart, aircraft type and capacity.
Together with my teammates, we also created the team page, references and the google form for feedback by other classes.

TEAMWORK :

Based on your observation, what are the things which  your team has done well during these past weeks? What have you learned from these observations which you can apply in future?

 

We have successfully collaborated to create a website. The splitting of work was well facilitated by our CEO, Melissa.

We also helped each other when some of us are unclear, and it was good that we were able to work as a group.

We were quite consistent in the initial phase of the project. We researched according to the parts that we have allocated. However, after some time the workload increased exponentially and we had some trouble following the planned schedule.

In the future I would continue to start work early into the project, and possibly try to do more when the workload is manageable.
 

Based on your observation, what are the things which  your team could have improved?  What have you learned from these observations which you could take note of when you work in teams in future?

We could have not used wix. Wix is horrible as no more than 1 person can edit the site concurrently. If 2 person edits the site, progress will be lost. The 2 wix modes are also tricky.

 

There are 2 modes, Wix ADI and wix editor. When I change to wix editor and make edits then change back to ADI, the progress will be lost. It might have been better to use squarespace or google sites. I also learnt that google site also has its cons. Google sites needs the site to be unpublished to edit, but wix does not have this limitation.

 

Time management could have been improved since we had to differ from our planned timeline to focus on another project which took longer than expected. We also did not expect that wix does not support multiple user editing, which meant we had to wait take turns to edit which was quite inefficient.

 

In the future if I need to create a website again I would consider using another website builder like squarespace.

How do you find the project?

 

Overall it was a little overwhelming at the beginning, but things just seemed to fall into place as the deadline came nearer. Submission deadline was the same with numerous other projects so it was a hectic week.

 

What are the key take-aways you got from the project?

 

We would have benefitted from better time management since the project due date coincides with the due dates of serveral other projects.

I also got to learn more about website creation and the limitations of Wix.

Is there anything you will like to feedback to improve the project?

 

I think wix should not be recommended in the project brief unless there are no other free options. The individual ‘report’ should not be named as a report since it is more of a website format.
